TL;DR. Use core sources first (Prompt Research inside Rankscale for segment-level “what should we track?” ideation, Google Search Console regex, Find Terms once a Page Audit has profiled the domain you care about), then fill with outlier sources (sales calls, support tickets, review sites, competitor FAQs, query fan-out). Prompts should reflect intent and scenarios, not just keywords.
Core sources
Before filling in any spreadsheet with assumptions, run Rankscale Prompt Research first (50 credits per segment). Start by selecting "Need help with finding segments" if you're unsure which ones matter. The guided flow will help you identify the right segment. Once you've picked one, select the clusters provided by the Prompt Research to track it.
Google Search Console Regex. Apply these two regex filters to your Performance report:
- Long-tail queries (9+ words):
^(?:\S+\s+){9,}\S+$ - Question and comparison queries:
^(what|how|which|best|top|why|where|compare|vs|should)
After you have conducted a Page Audit, Rankscale Find Terms (see Search Terms Tab) helps you surface the long-tail questions your existing URLs already earn visibility for.
Outlier sources
- Sales/demo calls. Top 5 questions prospects ask before buying.
- Query Fan-out. Rankscale > Search Terms > View Detailed Insights of Prompt in ChatGPT. Scroll down to find it.
- Customer support tickets. Recurring questions.
- Review sites. G2, Capterra, Trustpilot. Read questions in reviews.
- Competitor FAQ pages. Their published Q&As reveal buyer objections.
How to prioritize which prompts to track
- Business relevance. Does this prompt relate to one of your core markets?
- Search volume. How many people ask this question? Our Prompt Research gives you an estimate.
- Conversion potential. Would appearing in this answer drive leads or revenue? (Intent)
- Competitive gap (later stage). Are competitors visible here and you are not? (Opportunity)
Tip: include segments where you can prove quick wins. More specific equals faster visibility proof. Show results in the first month to get additional budget.
