TL;DR. Branded and non-branded prompts each get a status tier using the rules below. Branded prompts use fixed thresholds. Non-branded prompts are benchmarked against your category depth and competitors. Fix branded first (detection on your own brand is the foundation), then work down non-branded starting with the most transactional and most niche-specific prompts.
How status is set
Branded prompts (fixed thresholds):
- Good result if detection ≥ 95%
- Bad result if detection 90% to 95%
- Emergency result if detection < 90%
Non-branded prompts (benchmarked against category depth from lesson 2):
- Good result if above Standard (category median)
- Medium result if between Floor and Standard
- Bad result if below Floor
The order of attack
Work the list in this order. Do not jump ahead.
Prioritisation of bad results
- Branded
- Non-branded transactional + niche
- Non-branded consideration + niche
- Non-branded information + niche
- Non-branded transactional + category (segment)
- Non-branded consideration + category
- Non-branded information + category
- Any medium result, same order as above
Why branded first, always
If AI cannot find you on your own brand name in your own niche, nothing else you fix will compound. Entity recognition is the foundation for every non-branded win downstream. A branded bad result is a signal your entity is not trusted by AI engines as a real, verifiable thing. Fix that before you touch anything else.
Why niche before category
Niche prompts have fewer competitors, so a small content investment moves visibility faster. You prove results in weeks, not quarters. That earns you budget and headcount to take on the broader category prompts later. Tip: more specific equals faster visibility proof.
Why transactional before informational
Conversion potential rises with intent. Transactional prompts are closest to a buying decision. Winning there drives pipeline directly. Informational wins drive awareness, which matters, but awareness without pipeline is hard to defend in a budget review.
Do this now:
Open the Rankscale workspace (Brand Visibility Dashboard) and filter the dashboard using the available filters so you can flag prompts using the 8-step order above. Pick the single top prompt from the top group that has a bad result. That is your diagnostic target for the rest of this module.
